Beldersay Ski Resort
A Small Ski Resort in Uzbekistan with the Longest Run of the Country
Hidden high in the Tian Shan Mountains, Beldersay Ski Resort offers one of the most thrilling ski experiences in Uzbekistan. Just a short drive from Tashkent, Beldersay is famous for having the longest continuous ski run in the country — over 3 kilometers of alpine adventure. With challenging upper slopes, deep powder, and unbeatable views, this resort is perfect for intermediate and advanced skiers seeking something different.
Whether you’re carving turns down Mount Kumbel, relaxing in a mountain lodge, or soaking up the Central Asian sunshine, Beldersay delivers a unique blend of raw nature and rustic charm.
Location and Access
Beldersay is located about 80 km from Tashkent International Airport, just past the Chimgan recreation area. The journey takes 1.5 hours by car, and many resorts and hotels offer shuttle services. The resort sits at around 1,550 m altitude, with its highest lift reaching 2,350 m — making it one of the highest ski areas in Uzbekistan.
Ski Slopes and Terrain
Beldersay’s main attraction is its 3 km continuous downhill run, descending from the summit of Mount Kumbel to the resort base. This FIS-standard giant slalom course includes a 765 m vertical drop and is ideal for confident skiers. The upper slopes are steep, classified as black or red runs, while the lower part of the trail is more forgiving and accessible to intermediates.
The lift system includes:
- A 2.25 km double chairlift reaching 2,105 m
- A 700 m draglift to the summit (2,350 m)
- A short beginner rope tow at the base
Though smaller than newer resorts, Beldersay’s terrain offers a real challenge — especially off-piste. Freeride zones west and east of the summit offer deep powder, and heli-skiing options are available for those seeking high-adrenaline descents.
Snow Quality and Season
Thanks to its north-facing slopes and dry continental climate, Beldersay gets consistent, light powder snow that sticks around. The ski season lasts from December to April, often extending into May. Peak conditions are in January and February, with blue skies and cold nights that keep the snow dry.
The resort’s snow reliability and powder quality make it a favorite among local skiers and seasoned adventurers.
Accommodation and Facilities
Beldersay features the Oromgokhi Hotel, a cozy 4-star lodge with mountain views, a sauna, pool, restaurant, and wellness center. Additional chalets and guesthouses near the lift base offer budget-friendly and family-style options. Restaurants serve Uzbek and European food, and ski rentals, repair, and basic lessons are available on-site.
Après-ski here is quiet and relaxed — think sauna, mulled wine, and stargazing rather than wild nightlife. For more variety, the nearby Chimgan resort (just 5 km away) offers extra activities like snowmobiling, tubing, and hiking.
A True Off-the-Beaten-Path Adventure
Beldersay isn’t flashy — and that’s what makes it great. With no crowds, authentic hospitality, and Uzbekistan’s most impressive alpine descent, it’s a top pick for adventurous skiers.
This is a place to enjoy pure mountain skiing without the stress or price tag of big-name resorts. And with nearby cultural sites, petroglyph hikes, and local food, your trip can be as rich in history as it is in powder.
