Amirsoy Ski Resort Guide

Uzbekistan’s Premier Alpine Destination for World-Class Skiing

Uzbekistan’s World-Class Ski Destination

Amirsoy is Uzbekistan’s newest and largest ski resort, often dubbed the “St. Moritz of Central Asia”. Opened in December 2019 with a $100 million+ investment, Amirsoy introduced world-class infrastructure and put Uzbekistan on the international ski map.

Set on 900 hectares of pristine terrain in the Chatkal Range (western Tian Shan), Amirsoy offers a modern alpine experience with 15 km of groomed slopes spread across 10 runs. These runs range from gentle beginner trails to intermediate red and even a few challenging black-grade slopes, all meticulously designed by Canadian and Spanish experts to international standards.

Why Ski in Amirsoy?

Amirsoy’s ski terrain spans a vertical drop of about 660 m (1,630 m base to 2,290 m top). An 8-seater gondola whisks skiers from base to summit, while a fast quad chairlift and several magic carpet lifts serve the lower and mid-mountain areas. This means minimal waiting and more skiing.

The slopes are kept in top condition with TechnoAlpin snowmaking and groomed by PistenBully machines to ensure reliable snow cover and smooth runs. Thanks to the region’s dry climate and cold nights, the natural snow here is light and powdery – a dream for freeriders who also enjoy the off-piste bowls accessible just beyond the marked trails.

In fact, Amirsoy’s powder and backcountry are so enticing that affordable heli-skiing packages are on offer nearby.

The table shows you how Amirsoy’s ski season has started and finished in the past few years. Since Amirsoy only opened in 2019, we don’t have decades of data yet, but the pattern is already clear: the season shifts a little every year. Snowfall decides everything, so the resort does not follow fixed dates. Keep this in mind when you plan your trip.

What we can say with confidence is this: in every winter since opening, Amirsoy has operated from roughly late December until the end of March. This makes that period the safest window if you want to book your holiday early and be sure the lifts are running.

Some winters begin sooner or wrap up later. When that happens, you get a great bonus — quieter slopes, softer prices, and a relaxed ski day if you happen to be nearby. It’s perfect for a last-minute visit when you see the resort is open and the snow is good.

If you want to ski in Amirsoy, getting there is very simple. You first fly to Tashkent, the main airport of Uzbekistan. From Tashkent, you can reach Amirsoy in more than one way. The easiest is a private taxi, which brings you straight to the resort. The ride takes around 1.5 hours and is smooth the whole way. You can also book a shared shuttle if you want to save money.
