Central Asia is on the verge of becoming the next big destination for ski tourism. With two massive ski resort projects underway in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, the region is preparing to welcome skiers from all over the world — and we’ve rebranded to keep up with the pace.

The announcement of Kazakhstan’s massive resort and the rebranding of Kyrgyzstan’s Three Peaks resort to Ala-Too came around the same time and triggered us to change our name and our focus. This article is to inform you about it.

From Three Peaks to Ala-Too: A New Name for Kyrgyzstan’s Flagship Resort

When we launched this website and Youtube channel, our goal was simple: to follow the development of the Three Peaks Ski Resort in eastern Kyrgyzstan. But the project has since evolved — and so has its name. It’s now officially called Ala-Too Ski Resort, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest ski resort in the country.

With plans for 250 kilometers of interconnected slopes across three alpine valleys, Ala-Too is set to rival top-tier European destinations in both scale and natural beauty.

Kazakhstan’s Ambitious Almaty Superski Project

While Kyrgyzstan builds its flagship resort, Kazakhstan is going even bigger. The government is pushing forward the Almaty Superski Project, an ambitious plan to link several existing ski areas and develop new ones — most notably in the Kok Zhailau Gorge, a pristine natural area near Almaty.

If fully completed, this ski network could stretch between 300 and 700 kilometers, making it one of the largest continuous ski regions on the planet.

Central Asia: A New Frontier for Ski Tourism

These aren’t isolated developments. They’re part of a growing trend that positions Central Asia as a major winter sports hub. The region offers:

  • High-altitude mountains and excellent snow
  • Affordable prices compared to Europe or Japan
  • Increasing investment and government support

As tourism grows, so does international attention — and we knew it was time for our content to reflect that.
